SNOWY EGRET, S.P.I., TX.

 After a suggestion by Jim Stinson I decided to try this abstract in Black and White as well as in colour and was very pleased.  I do wish I could take credit for the reflection, but it was done through editing.  As soon as I saw the original and realized I did not have all the egret in the reflection I decided to produce it.  I knew it would be very striking.  Thanks again for the input and support it always spurs me on not only to improve my photography but to let my imagination go free.

TURNING A WORTHLESS PHOTO INTO AN ABSTRACT

I learned a long time ago not to delete pictures in the field that I think will not be worth saving.  I quite often play with them to see how I may "save" them.  This shows the 3 steps I took as I worked with the original  (blurred flock of Whistling Ducks) then used the distort filter and finally lighting effects.   I found it to be a very interesting abstract.

12th Annual Kite Festival -South Padre Island, Tx

Remember when you use to fly a kite when you were a kid!  Well it seems to be a very big hobby down here in the south!  John and I (along with thousands of others :) got a glimpse of some of the great talent it takes to fly these magnificent works of art!

Part of the festival is made up of competitions.  These six kites were flown by six people and accompanied by music.  They were very exciting to watch.  Great talent indeed!

Rich Jabas comes to the beach most days to fly his kites.  Thanks for letting me photograph you!  We hope to see you there again soon Rich!
